Bret Easton Ellis had unresolved issues with his father, so he wrote American Psycho, and turned his father into a serial killer.
Vladimir Nabokov had synesthesia, so he gave it to his characters.
Chuck Palahniuk had trouble coping with the decision of whether or not a certain man should receive the death sentence, so he wrote Lullaby. When publishers rejected Invisible Monsters for disturbing content, he wrote Fight Club to disturb them even further.
Your life was ruined, so you sat and did nothing.
When you know just how weak you are, you wish this were fiction.
